Central Africa



Day 1          Arrival in Pointe-Noire and transfer to the hotel. Palm Beach or similar hotel in Pointe-Noire.

Day 2            Pointe-Noire: African Circle Museum, markets, train station, Cote Sauvage, Notre-Dame of the Assumption, Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle and the former Loango Slave Embarkation Port. Afternoon flight to Brazzaville. Radisson Blu M'Bamou Palace or similar hotel in  Brazzaville.

Day 3              Brazzaville: Congo River Rapids, Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza Memorial and Basilica Sainte Anne du Congo. Drive in the northern direction to Oyo via Bateke Plateau and villages of Kongo and Teke tribes. Alima Palace or similar hotel in Oyo.

Day 4              Oyo - Ouesso past the fringes of Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Ouesso: Cathedral of Saint Peter Claver, marketplace and Sangha riverfront. Onanga or similar hotel in Ouesso.

Day 5              Upstream boat ride from Ouesso to the border of Central African Republic and farther to the town of Bayanga. 2 nights in Doli or similar lodge in Bayanga.

Day 6              Full day safari in Dzanga Sangha National Park listed as the UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 7              Late morning flight to Bangui, the capital of Central African Republic. Bangui: central business district, Ubangi riverfront, Notre-Dame Cathedral and Boganda National Museum. 2 nights in Bangui, Ledger Hotel or similar accommodation.  

Day 8              Day trip to Kema and Ouaka provinces populated by Gbaya and Banda tribes. Visits to the town of Sibut and the village of Gousoumale.

Day 9              Drive to Nana-Mambere Province. Bouar: Cathedral of Mary Mother, Grand Mosque, marketplace and the Bouar Megaliths. Arrival in Garoua-Mboulai after crossing the Cameroon border. La Kadey II or similar hotel in Garoua-Mboulai.

Day 10              Garoua-Mboulai - Benoue National Park past settlements of Gbaya and Chamba tribes. Overnight stay in the Buffle Noir Camp within Benoue National Park in Northern Cameroon.

Day 11              Morning and daytime safari in Benoue National Park at Benoue River. Late afternoon drive to Ngaoundere. In Ngaoundere: Lamido Grand Mosque and traditional market. Marhaba or similar hotel in Ngaoundere.

Day 12              Ngaoundere - Bertoua via villages of Gbaya and Maka tribes. Mansa or similar hotel in Bertoua.  

Day 13              Drive to Yaounde past settlements of Maka and Fang tribes. Yaounde: Monument de la Reunification, National Museum, Centre International de L'artisanat and the government district. 1 night in Yaounde, Boun's Hotel or similar accommodation.  

Day 14              Drive to Mount Cameroon area. Buea: First German Post Office Building, Reunification Monument and panorama of  Mount Cameroon. Douala: La Nouvelle Liberte, Maritime Museum, Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul Bonadibong, La Pagode and Bonanjo Park. 1 night in Douala, Akwa Palace Hotel or similar accommodation.

Day 15              Departure from Douala.
